Pilot — labour disputes

Refer a workplace dispute, attend your hearing online, and receive a signed decision.

This pilot runs unfair dismissal and unfair labour practice disputes through conciliation and arbitration, following the Labour Relations Act. A commissioner — a person — hears your matter and signs every award.

How it works

  1. Answer plain-language questions. The system checks time limits and whether this forum has jurisdiction.
  2. Your referral gets a case number and is served on the employer.
  3. A commissioner is allocated by published rules — never by who you are or who helped you.
  4. Conciliation, then arbitration if needed, by video, audio or in person.
  5. The commissioner may use AI tools that cite the law and the record — but decides and signs personally.
  6. Anyone can check that a signed award is genuine at Verify a document.

Human decisions

AI output is kept separately, labelled, and can be rejected entirely. Awards identify the commissioner as author.

Tamper-evident record

Every action is written to a hash-chained audit log. Evidence is hashed on upload and never overwritten.

Your rights

You can see everything the commissioner relies on, correct transcript errors, and challenge an award within the time limits shown in your matter.
